README file for "Sedtrans92 input" INSTALLATION The two files "sedtrans92 input.exe" and "BCHSED92.EXE" must be copied into the same directory (the best is to create a new directory) on the local hard disk. It is not advised to run the software from a floppy or a network drive, because fast access to the software directory is necessary Sedtrans92 input is written in VisualBasic 6, and it requires the run-time library of VisualBasic 6. This is commonly already installed on computers. Should it not be the case (error message when launching "sedtrans92 input.exe"), the run-time library must be installed with the file "VBRun60sp5.exe". HOW TO USE IT To start the program, launch the file "sedtrans92 input.exe". During its execution, the program creates 3 files in the software directory ("INDATA.", "OUTDATA." and "SEDOUT."), which do not have to be kept afterward. GENERAL EXPLANATIONS "Sedtrans92 input" is a helper application to use Sedtrans92 on computer running Windows 95/98/NT/Me/XP/etc. Sedtrans92 was presented in Li M.Z. && Amos C.L. (2001) SEDTRANS96: the upgraded and better calibrated sediment-transport model for continental shelves. Computers && Geosciences 27, 619-645. "Sedtrans92 input" allows inputting all the parameter for one calculation with a form. It then writes the file "INDATA." and calls the executable "BCHSED92.EXE", which is the batch version of Sedtrans92. Finally it reads the files "OUTDATA." and "SEDOUT.", which were created by "BCHSED92.EXE", and presents the results in a second window. If many different conditions have to be computed, it can be faster to use the real batch mode. For this, prepare the "INDATA." file with one condition per line, then launch once "BCHSED92.EXE", and finally examine the results in "OUTDATA." and "SEDOUT."
